KATHMANDU: The Araniko Highway’s Bahrabise to Kodari section has officially entered the upgrade phase, with the Department of Roads initiating works to repair damage caused by recent monsoon rains.

Road Division Chirikot finalized the contract last Nov with MS NS Galwa JV, awarding Rs 1.34 billion for construction.
The 26-kilometer stretch will be upgraded to a double-lane highway, with critical structural works already underway.
In high-risk landslide zones, gabion walls and other protective structures are being constructed to ensure safety.
Current physical progress stands at 7%, according to Chief of Road Division Narayandatt Bhandari.
MS NS Galwa JV Managing Director Gauri Upreti confirmed that construction is progressing smoothly and, barring any disruptions in materials or logistics, the project is on track for timely completion.
Work on structural components started on Dec 6, following the contract signed on Nov 17.
