APF DSP Koirala dies of heart attack

KATHMANDU: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Koirala of the Armed Police Force (APF) has passed away due to a heart attack on Wednesday evening.

DSP Koirala, who was serving as the in-charge of the Pashupatinagar Gulm in Ilam, collapsed shortly after returning from a routine patrol in the Mane Bhanjyang border area.

According to officials, he suddenly lost consciousness within the office premises.

He was immediately airlifted to Kathmandu by helicopter for emergency treatment.

Despite being rushed to the Armed Police Force Hospital in Balambu, doctors were unable to save him.

Hospital sources confirmed that DSP Koirala was declared dead at around 6:00 pm.

Preliminary medical examinations have identified a heart attack as the cause of death.

DSP Koirala had been transferred to the Pashupatinagar Gulm only a month ago.

His untimely demise has left the APF family and security community in deep mourning.
