Indian Home Minister Shah provides 40 kg of sandalwood to Nepal
According to temple officials, such offerings from India are traditionally made for special religious ceremonies involving the Shree Yantra placed at the temple’s sanctum.
KATHMANDU: Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has sent 40 kilograms of sacred sandalwood to be offered at the revered Pashupatinath Temple for the ritual worship of the Shree Yantra.
The sandalwood was formally handed over to the chief priest of Pashupatinath, Ganesh Bhatta, through coordination by Member of Parliament Sandeep Rana.
According to temple officials, such offerings from India are traditionally made for special religious ceremonies involving the Shree Yantra placed at the temple’s sanctum.
Authorities at the temple confirmed that the consignment has been handed over to the Guthi Sansthan’s Pashupati Goshwara Office chief, Sushila Sharma, for proper storage and management.
Last year, a similar offering of 35 kilograms of sandalwood was sent by a minister from Goa, continuing the long-standing tradition of religious and cultural exchange between Nepal and India centered around Lord Pashupatinath.
Officials noted that these annual offerings reflect the deep spiritual and cultural ties between the people of Nepal and India, with sacred materials being sent from India for use in special rituals dedicated to Lord Pashupatinath.
Special type of sandalwood is gifted by India every year to offer Shree Yantra worship of the Pashupatinath.
