4-year-old dies after school rack accident

KATHMANDU: A four-year-old boy died after being crushed by an iron shoe rack at a school in Raksirang Rural Municipality-6 of Makwanpur district.
The incident occurred on Thursday, Jestha 7 (May 21), while the child was playing at National Secondary School in Silinge.
The victim, identified as four-year-old Aaron Chepang of Simargaun, sustained critical injuries after the rack fell on him.
He was undergoing treatment in Bharatpur, Chitwan, where he died on Tuesday night.
According to family members, the heavy rack caused severe internal injuries, leading to infections in vital organs including the intestines, kidneys, lungs, and heart, making treatment unsuccessful.
The boy’s father, Ram Kumar Praja, blamed the school management committee and staff for negligence, alleging their irresponsible conduct led to his son’s death.
Family members also said the child’s mother, who is currently abroad for foreign employment, collapsed after receiving news of her son’s death and has been admitted to hospital.
