KATHMANDU: A total of 37 Nepali nationals deported from the United States have arrived in Kathmandu.

They landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday night via a chartered flight arranged by the U.S. government.

The deportees — 32 men and 5 women — were sent back for violating U.S. immigration laws.

Reasons for deportation include overstaying visas, failing to complete legal immigration procedures, and reported misconduct.

The U.S. has been tightening immigration policies, especially following former President Donald Trump’s administration, which emphasized stricter enforcement.

Under current rules, individuals failing to comply with visa regulations or involved in unlawful activities are detained and repatriated to their home countries.
