KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has classified injuries of 200 people who were hurt during the recent ‘Gen Z’ demonstrations, according to ministry spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki.

Providing details on the progress, Budhathoki said injury classifications were recorded for 183 people in the months of Kartik and Mangsir, 16 in Poush, and only one person in Magh.

“District Administration Offices are required to submit details of those injured during the Gen Z protests. However, despite repeated public notices, the injured individuals did not come forward for classification. As a result, the number of classified cases remains low,” he said.

The spokesperson added that since many injured persons failed to make contact, the ministry plans to continue collecting injury classification data and details of newly injured individuals within a fixed timeframe.

He also noted that many of those who sustained minor injuries may have chosen not to report their cases, as they are not entitled to certain facilities or support provided to those with serious injuries.

According to the ministry’s data, a total of 2,599 people were injured during the Gen Z protests across the country.
