30 dead, 200+ injured in disasters last month
A total of 222 people were injured, while widespread damage was reported to property and livestock.
KATHMANDU: At least 30 people lost their lives in disaster-related incidents across Nepal during the month of Chaitra, according to official data.
The fatalities include 16 men, 10 women, and four children, with incidents ranging from fires and storms to lightning strikes and snowfall.
A total of 222 people were injured, while widespread damage was reported to property and livestock.
Authorities said 191 houses, 117 sheds, and three government offices were damaged. In addition, 529 livestock perished in the disasters.
The estimated financial loss stands at Rs 337.26 million.
Police deployed 4,841 personnel for disaster response operations, spokesperson Avin Narayan Kafle said.
The incidents also displaced 143 people.
Region-wise, the highest number of incidents was reported in Koshi Province (272), followed by Madhesh (136), Lumbini (129), Gandaki (95), Sudurpaschim (93), Bagmati (85), Karnali (57), and Kathmandu Valley (39).
