KATHMANDU: Under government coordination, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has successfully repatriated hundreds of Nepali citizens stranded across West Asia through special rescue flights.
According to the corporation’s spokesperson, Devendra Pun, a special flight on Thursday brought 272 Nepalis back home from Dubai Airport. Earlier, the same aircraft had transported 260 passengers from Kathmandu to Dubai to facilitate their return.
Spokesperson Pun added that another Nepal Airlines flight is scheduled to depart for Dubai today with 267 passengers, who will bring back 164 Nepalis. The rescue flights were launched after airspace over West Asia was closed from Feb 28 following airstrikes in Iran by the United States and Israel, which disrupted commercial flights across the region.
