KATHMANDU: The hearing in the rape case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has drawn to a close.

Spanning from Tuesday to Wednesday, the proceedings saw prominent attorneys such as Ram Narayan Bidari, Raman Shrestha, Shambu Thapa, Murari Sapkota, and Krishna Sapkota vehemently contesting the Kathmandu District Court’s decision to convict Lamichhane of rape.

Advocates representing the girl from Gaushala-26, alongside government representatives and others, also presented their arguments during the hearing.

Initially, Sandeep Lamichhane was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Kathmandu District Court for the alleged rape incident in Gaushala-26. Subsequently, Lamichhane appealed the ruling to the Patan High Court, where the proceedings faced five postponements.

Following the hearing, a verdict in the case is expected to be delivered shortly.
