Turnout hits 57% in Ilam-2 by-election as polls close

The election office has reported a voter turnout of 57 percent until 5 PM.

KATHMANDU: In the by-elections for Ilam constituency number 2, voting for the selection of assembly members has concluded.

The voting commenced from 7 AM in the morning and concluded at 5 PM in the evening.

According to the voter turnout, the initial voting pattern seemed to have a significantly lower number of voters compared to the current voting.

Those who were unable to cast their votes until 5 PM have been informed that they can still cast their votes within the ‘Polling Area’ premises, as notified by the main election office.

The election office has reported a voter turnout of 57 percent until 5 PM.

According to the office, preparations for the compilation of ballot summaries are ongoing, including the deployment of security personnel.

The ballot summaries will be collected primarily at the Gautam Buddha Convention Center in Ilam Municipality-7.

Keshav Prasad Ghimire, the Chief Election Officer, informed that out of the 115,889 eligible voters in Ilam-2, more than 66,000 voters have cast their votes.

According to the Chief Election Office, there are 19 candidates contesting for assembly members from Ilam-2.
