KATHMANDU: Nepal emerged victorious in the first T20 match against West Indies ‘A’ on Saturday, led by Captain Rohit Paudel’s century performance.

In a thrilling encounter, Nepal’s national cricket team secured a remarkable victory against West Indies ‘A’ in the first T20 match of the series.

Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel’s outstanding batting performance led Nepal to a 4-wicket win over West Indies ‘A’. Nepal successfully chased down the target of 250 runs set by the opposition, losing 6 wickets in the process.

Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel played a crucial role in the victory, scoring an impressive 112 runs off just 80 balls. He smashed 10 fours and 6 sixes during his innings, reaching his century in the 19th over.

Nepal faced an early setback when opener Anil Shah was dismissed in the third over. However, Rohit Kumar Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee steadied the innings with a partnership of 64 runs for the fourth wicket. Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 24 runs off 18 balls before being caught at mid-off.

Vivek Yadav fell victim to a superb delivery from Obed McCoy in the 18th over, adding just 7 runs to the scoreboard.

Nepal having won the toss and elected to bat first, West Indies ‘A’ posted a strong total of 250 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

West Indies ‘A’ suffered an early blow in the first over when opener Johnson Charles was dismissed by Kamal Singh Airee. Kamal Singh Airee struck again in the third over, claiming the wicket of Johnson Charles.

In the fourth over, Andre Fletcher was run out for 13 runs.

Alick Athanaze played a brilliant innings, scoring 47 runs off 25 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. He was caught by Lalit at point off the bowling of Rohit.

Keacy Carty and Captain Roston Chase shared a vital partnership for the fourth wicket, contributing 60 runs together. Carty scored 38 runs off 26 balls before being caught by Abinash Bohora.

Captain Roston Chase played an outstanding innings, scoring 74 runs off 46 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Dipendra in the final over.

For Nepal, Kamal Singh Airee, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Kumar Paudel, and Abinash Bohora each claimed 1 wicket.

The second match of the five-match series is scheduled to be played on Sunday.
