CM Kandel requests Finance Minister Pun to put Karnali State in priority in coming budget

KAKREBIHAR (Surkhet): Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yam Lal Kandel, met Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and discussed about the projects and budget that should be given special priority in budget of the coming fiscal year.

He urged the Finance Minister to give special priority to Karnali corridor (Surkhet-Humla) and Bheri corridor (Surkhet-Dolpa) keeping them under national pride project.

Chief Minister Kandel said he also asked Minister Pun to establish project office with separate structure and arrangement of necessary budget to complete the project as soon as possible.

Arrangement of necessary budget for the implementation of the project of making Ratna highway from Kohalpur to Surkhet of four-lane was also demanded as it has not been brought into implementation even after incorporating in the government’s annual policy and programme.

The Chief Minister also urged to make arrangement of necessary budget to increase access of air service of Karnali State with federal capital and develop as the centre of domestic flights by expanding and upgrading Surkhet airport as well as to allocate necessary budget for the reconstruction of private housing and other structures in quake-hit Jajarkot, Rukum (West) and Salyan districts.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, was also present on the occasion.
