By-election: Transportation to halt across entire Ilam district on Saturday

KATHMANDU: In preparation for the upcoming by-elections in Ilam-2 constituency, transportation services will come to a standstill across Ilam district on Saturday, April 27.
This decision was reached during a multi-party meeting held on Thursday.
The meeting, attended by election authorities, district officials, and security agencies, concluded with the agreement to suspend transportation from 5 AM to 6 PM on election day, including the closure of Mechi Highway and other major roads in the district.
Ilam District Chief Officer Indradev Yadav informed that the decision was made to ensure peace and security during the voting process.
Additionally, neighboring districts such as Jhapa, Panchthar, Taplejung, and Morang have been notified of the transportation halt, with checkpoints set up to enforce the closure.
