KATHMANDU: Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of Sudurpaschim State is scheduled to face a vote of confidence on Thursday.

CM Shah submitted a proposal for the vote of confidence at the State Secretariat on Tuesday.

Following the recent formation of a new alliance at the federal level, CM Shah has removed ministers affiliated with CPN (Maoist Centre).

Currently, Nepali Congress leads with 18 out of 53 seats in the State Assembly.

CM Shah needs support from 27 lawmakers to stay in power.

He’s appointed five ministers from the Nagarik Unmukti Party to bolster his position, but party officials are split on backing his administration.

Currently, CPN (Maoist Centre) has 10 legislators, CPN-UML has 10, and CPN (Unified Socialist) has four.
