Prime Minister: ‘No Objection Letter’ mandatory for traveling to Russia

Responding to significant issues presented in Parliament today, Prime Minister Prachanda explained that diplomatic pressure has been enhanced to prevent Nepali individuals from joining the Russian army and to return those who have been recruited to Nepal.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that the Russian government has been informed about the illegal recruitment of Nepalis in the Russian army and a “no objection letter” is mandatory when going to Russia.

Responding to significant issues presented in Parliament today, Prime Minister Prachanda explained that diplomatic pressure has been enhanced to prevent Nepali individuals from joining the Russian army and to return those who have been recruited to Nepal.

Prime Minister Prachanda stated that talks are underway with officials from the respective countries about repatriating the bodies of Nepalese citizens who joined the Russian army and died, compensating the families of the deceased and injured, and repatriating citizens held hostage by the Ukrainian army.

“Recently, the Russian government has agreed to provide compensation and insurance money to the Nepalese Embassy’s account and provide it to the victims’ families through the consular service department,” Prime Minister Prachanda said, “No Objection Letter” has been made mandatory for citizens who travel to Russia except for study scholarships and professions.
