KATHMANDU: Saraswati Khadka, a 40-year-old resident of Kageshwari Manohara Municipality-2 in Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality-20, has been arrested by the District Police Complex Kathmandu. She is accused of opening a bank account by misusing another person’s citizenship.

The arrest was made on charges of pasting Khadka’s photo in the KYC (Know Your Customer) details, opening an account, and issuing checks to others using the citizenship of another individual.

The police, in accordance with the Banking Offenses Punishment Act, 2064, are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

Likewise, Srikant Raut, 40, was arrested for defrauding Rs. 2 lakh in Kathmandu.

Srikant Raut, a resident of Saptari Shambhunath Municipality-2, Kachandaha, and currently residing in Bhangal, Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu, has been arrested by the police from District Police Complex Kathmandu.

He is charged with defrauding Rs. 2 lakh from an individual by promising to arrange a teaching position in a central school.

According to the police, Raut has a history of deceiving people using various pretexts, claiming close relationships with political leaders and influential figures from both domestic and foreign power centers.

The arrest was made based on a complaint filed against him for fraudulent activities.

According to the Police Headquarters, the District Court in Kathmandu has extended the deadline for five days on him and the necessary investigation is being carried out by the police.
