KATHMANDU: Butwal Sub-Metropolitan has started bulldozing structures that were built in public places.

According to the Sub-Metropolitan sources, the drive has been put in place to remove illegal structures so as to create space for the construction of rest house, park and town hall.

As part of the campaign to remove physical structures built with encroachment of public land, the Sub-Metropolitan evicted three huts in ward-5, Haatbazaar and one in Nepalgunj road on Sunday.

The illegally-constructed structures were removed with support from Area Police Office, Butwal, city police, land section and local people when concerned side did not proactively clear the public sites despite several correspondences, informed Butwal sub-metropolis-5, chair Hari Prasad Shrestha.

He further said the ‘Ujir Singh Falcha, Ramapithekas Park’ will be constructed in the road areas where illegal structures are being removed.

Likewise, the sub-metropolis has dispatched a letter to remove remaining illegal structures of ward-5, Nepalgunj road. Preparation is on to evict the structures in a near future.

The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan has run a campaign to construct park and chautari by protecting public land in the areas, including ward-6.
