1.3 kilos of gold recovered from TIA

KATHMANDU: One kilogram and 300 grams of gold were discovered at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Airport Security Office Chief DIG Arjun Chand Thakuri reported that the gold was retrieved on Saturday along with one passenger from Fly Dubai.

Kanthimathy Kavaskar, a Sri Lankan citizen, has been identified as one of those detained. According to DIG Thakuri, the Sri Lankan woman arrived at the airport at 12:55 p.m. with gold from Dubai and was detained at 1 a.m.

The gold was discovered in the woman’s inner garments.

She had hidden the gold in her undershirt and under garments.

The matter is being investigated further by the TIA Customs Office, according to police.
