3 held in Sarlahi for gang rape of a speech-impaired woman

KATHMANDU: Three individuals have been arrested in the Bagmati municipality of Sarlahi on charges of collectively raping a 31-year-old woman who is unable to speak.

The Bagmati police, based in Ward 4 scatters settlements, took action after receiving information about the alleged gang rape, revealing the shocking details of the crime.

The victim, an unmarried woman with speech impairment, was reportedly subjected to this heinous crime in the late hours of the night on Poush 10 (Dec 26).

The suspects, identified as Hari Bahadur Bhujel (35), Kailendra Pariyar (42), and Anil Bhari (21), allegedly intoxicated the woman with homemade liquor near a local bar and then gang raped her in a nearby secluded area.

Following the investigation, the suspects managed to flee the scene, prompting the police to conduct a thorough search. T

he arrests were made after tracking down the suspects based on confidential information, and they were found hiding in a location not far from the incident.

The victim has undergone a medical examination at the Malangwa District Hospital, and although she is in stable condition, the trauma of the assault is undeniable. The suspects, including Hari Bahadur Bhujel, have been revealed to be residents of the same village.

The police inspector, Anil Giri, informed the media about the incident and stated that the arrested individuals will face legal proceedings at the district court.

The three suspects, with Dhannalal Waiba being unmarried and 21 years old, will now be further investigated and brought to justice for their alleged involvement in this appalling crime.
