KATHMANDU: On Tuesday, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ started on a historic visit to Lumbini.

Their journey to this respected pilgrimage site represented the meeting of global diplomacy and spiritual importance.

Both dignitaries were involved in a variety of activities at Lumbini, highlighting the city’s universal appeal.

“I call from Lumbini to put an end to the conflicts raging around the world,” Guterres said.

“Peace and humanity are non-negotiable requirements.” We can’t let mankind perish. “The Buddha’s message, the Panchsheel principles, and the United Nations’ mission are profoundly aligned,” he remarked.

“Let us draw inspiration from this fountain of peace; let us come together and visit Lumbini,” he said.

He emphasized his excitement at being in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, while also expressing deep concern about the far-reaching consequences of climate change and urged an immediate resolution to conflicts in places like Israel, Palestine, and Sudan.

Among those accompanying him on his first visit to Buddha’s birthplace were Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati.
