Mother who abandon toddler Tied to sugarcane field arrested

KATHMANDU: A woman who tied her one-year-old daughter to a sugarcane field and ran away has been arrested by the police.

A 25-year-old Sharmila of Kanchanpur’s Punarwas Municipality-2 Amraiya was arrested from Beldandi Rural Municipality-3 Baiwah on Saturday.

She has been taken to District Police Office Belauri.

On Thursday evening, Sharmila left behind her one-year-old daughter with her hands tied inside the sugarcane fields of Belauri Municipality-7 Singhapur.

She who was staying at mother’s home and had left with her daughter saying she was going home.

The next day, local people found the girl crying inside the sugarcane field.

Locals and police rescued the baby girl and handed her over to her grandmother in maternal uncles’ home.
