New arrangement made regarding the police report

KATHMANDU: The ‘Police Character Certificate Distribution Guide’ has been completely rewritten.

The charges or misdemeanors of the person obtaining the character certificate will not be listed in the character certificate, according to instructions published in the gazette on Monday.

The certificate will be sent within five business days following the online application, according to the directory.

The guidelines state that a character certificate will be issued without identifying the accusation or offense, even if the person has been acquitted of a criminal charge, the case is pending, the case is being considered, the case has been withdrawn, or the offense has been paid. Similarly, people convicted of a crime punishable by less than a year will now receive a police report.

Earlier, although the prosecution case was ongoing or the offense had been paid, many citizens were upset when the subject of prosecution or offense was mentioned in the certificate.
