Forged bomb holder statement – I did it to get money as I had a financial difficulty

KATHMANDU: On Wednesday, police detained a young man who planted a fake bomb in front of a jewellery shop in Sinamangal and collected his testimony.

The police apprehended Khajanchi Paswan, 28, of Rautat, who was hiding in a hotel near the scene where the Nepali Army team was deactivating the device after placing it.

During the statement, he has given a statement that he did this to see if money would come after adding the name of a political party to a bomb-like object.

He had previously threatened the proprietor of Sinamangal’s Khotang Halesi gold and silver business over the phone, demanding 5 lakh rupees.

‘My rented room was at Sinamangal, and I spotted the mobile number on the board,’ he added in his police testimony.

Then I called to see if the money would come. When I asked for 500,000, I took Tarsaun away and detained him the next morning.’

He left a brochure with the name ‘Nepal Utthan Krantikari Party’ on it, as well as RDX munitions.

He planted a forged explosive in front of the shop at about 7 a.m. during the statement. After then, he stated that he was losing his patience by waiting in the throng until the army’s bomb disposal unit arrived, i.e. till 10:00 p.m.

The cops tracked him down and arrested him based on the number he dialed.

He is being held in the Gaushala police circle.
