KATHMANDU: The National Examinations Board (NEB) has published the results of Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) for the academic year 2079 BS (2022-23).

Deepak Sharma, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, stated that the results were published following the board meeting’s decision.

The NEB said the results are published as per the grading system by accumulating the practical and theory scores. The grade system in SEE was implemented in 2072 BS and it is said this is the last time the results are published in this format. It shall be published in the letter grading system from next year.

A total of 485,396 students participated in the SEE held from April 2-12, 2023 (Chait 19-29, 2079 BS).

The highest number of students appearing in the SEE were from the Bagamati State as they numbered 102,000 and the lowest 38,608 were from Karnali. The total number of exam centers 2037 and the girls numbered 242,712 and the number of boys was 242,674.

There were also 15,461 technical examinees in the SEE.

According to the system of 2072, there is a provision that students will pass even if they get 35 percent marks in theory and practical combined.

According to the 2072 system, those who score 90 to 100 percent will receive A+, those who score less than 80 to 90 percent will receive A, those who score less than 70 to 80 percent will receive B+, those who score less than 60 to 70 percent will receive B, C+ for those who score 50 to less than 60, C for those who score less than 40 to 50, D+ for those who score less than 30 to 40, D for those who score 20 to 30 and those who score less than 20 will receive E.

According to the new guidelines 2078, students must score 35 percent in theoretical subjects.

The Letter Grading System incorporates only those students scoring minimum 35 in theory and 40 in practical and those unable to meet the basic requirement will be assessed as non-graded (NG), thus becoming not eligible to join Grade 11.
