POKHARA: Mayor Dev Kumar Nepali of Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung is missing after being accused of misappropriating cooperative funds. He established Image Cooperative in Baglung and Pokhara, which specialized in savings and loans. The cooperative was unable to repay the savings of thousands of members. Every day, savers encircled the cooperative, and the mayor avoided contact with Nepalese by sealing the cooperative itself.

A complaint has been filed against him now. Every day, the District Police Office Baglung is inundated with complaints. So far, 768 complaints have been submitted against Image Savings and Loan Cooperative Society and Shiva Shikhar Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Founder Chair Dev Kumar Nepali, according to Deputy Superintendent Madan KC. It is expected that more than 4,000 complaints would be filed.

Nepali have been out of contact since Jestha 5 (May 19). On 7th Baisakh (April 20), the Ministry of Home Affairs banned the travel permits of Acting President Dor Bahadur Pariyar, Secretary Sunil Nepali, Treasurer Laxmi Sen and Board members Chitra Bahadur Bhandari, Rupa BK and Jhag Bahadur Shahi along with Nepali. They are not in contact with anyone.

Nepali is accused of taking almost 2 billion from savers. So far, it has been stated that 89.66 million dollars will be saved. Image Cooperative has three locations in Baglung Bazar, Galkot, and Burtibang, as well as one in Pokhara. It is estimated that over two billion dollars were embezzled in Baglung alone. Pokhara victims also have regular meetings at the district police office and the Pokhara metropolitan cooperative division. The savers have banded together to establish a fight committee.
