KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines has begun service from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Bhairahawa Airport.

After one year of operation, Nepal Airlines’ international scheduled flights began today at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA).

Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, welcomed the plane from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the country’s second international airport.

“Airbus of the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines will fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu via Bhairahawa, and it will now be a regular flight,” he said. The plane carried 97 people, including 11 foreigners.

Nepal Airlines’ 158-seat narrow body aircraft flew the inaugural flight from Malaysia to Bhairahawa.

According to the company, the fare from Malaysia to Bhairawa is now Rs 31,000, and the fare from Malaysia to Kathmandu is Rs 56,000.

Although some foreign flights were made by Jazeera Airlines and Himalaya Airlines, these have recently ceased.
