Following the resignation of 17 Biratnagar employees, Deputy Mayor met CM

BIRATNAGAR: Biratnagar Metropolitan has expressed its concern with the provincial government’s recent legislation governing the formation, operation, and terms of service of local services.

Only a few days ago, 17 Biratnagar Metropolitan City employees resigned.

Shilpa Karki, Acting Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, met with Hikmat Karki, Chief Minister of Koshi State Government, and voiced her disapproval with the legislation.

The team that accompanied Metropolitan Corporation employees drew the attention of Chief Minister Karki to the confusion that the ordinance had caused in the personnel system. ‘Due to the ordinance brought by the government, personnel are resigning in droves,’ she informed Chief Minister Karki, ‘a difficulty in the operation of the metropolitan has been caused by the government’s policies.’

His personal secretary, Nischal Mayalu Neupane, notified him that Acting Mayor Karki stated that the ordinance introduced without discussion or consultation with the local administration should be amended.

Following the ordinance passed by the state government in Biratnagar Metropolitan, 17 employees resigned. Dilli Prasad Dhimal, Officer VII, Mukundachandra Upadhyay, Officer VII, Engineer Bharat, and Ghanshyam Kafle are among those who resigned.

Biratnagar Metropolitan Corporation stated that there are Laxmi Dhimal of the sixth level, Dinkar Mandal of the fifth level, Bishwaraj Kattel of the fourth level, and Somananda Karki of the assistant level. Towards the city police SP Rewat Dulal and heavy vehicle driver Krishna Prasad Dahal.

Among other city police officers, Ashok Kamat, Chiranjeevi Nepal, Yagya Bhandari, Rita Roka, Salikgram Koirala and Arun Yadav submitted their resignations on Friday. Ghanshyam Kafle, who resigned in the shortest time, was working as an engineer for 9 years.

Dilli Dhimal is the most active at the local level. Arjun Thapaliya, Head of Personnel Administration Division of Biratnagar Metropolitan Municipality, stated that many personnel have resigned in order to earn a gratuity for the services they have provided thus far, as service facilities will be curtailed as a result of the law.

Other staff are prepared to resign as well, claiming that the ordinance is causing problems in service facilities.
