KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that paragliding will be extremely beneficial to tourism promotion.

Himalayan Frontiers Paragliding Company, Chitwan, while inaugurating paragliding today on the occasion of New Year, said that it will further support Chitwan’s tourism.

‘Paragliding will contribute more to the development of tourism in Chitwan,’ he says, adding that “paragliding is an important sport for adventurous tourists.” He stated, ‘This is a safe and brave game.’

He said that paragliding is considered to be the safest among adventurous sports. He expressed his appreciation for the initiative of young entrepreneurs. He stated that the purpose of this game is for Nepal to deliver new items in the industry of tourism on an international scale.

Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, stated that this game will make a huge contribution to the tourism industry. He stated that paragliding should be done securely by following the rules.

Commercial paragliding flights began on May 1st with the goal of enhancing visitor activities in Chitwan, which is ranked third in terms of tourism. Bijay Bahadur Ghale, the company’s president, announced that paragliding has been launched as a new destination for domestic and international tourists visiting the district. The adventure activity of paragliding has been started at Bharatpur Municipal Corporation-29 Chaukidanda.

He stated that paragliding has begun so that tourists who come to Chitwan for jungle safaris can extend their stay by adding a new location to their itinerary.

It is about to take off from 1,200 meters above sea level. The paragliding flight took off from Chaukidanda in Chitwan and landed on the bank of the Trishuli River in Tanahun’s Devghat Rural Municipality-5.

He estimates that flying from this location will take 20 to 30 minutes. Currently, ten paragliders have been brought. Each day, up to 45 persons can be flown. In 2015, foreign visitors flew here. Ghale claims that this location is distinct from Pokhara.

Flying over the lake and seeing the mountains in Pokhara is a great joy, he says, but flying over the Nagbeli road and the Trishuli river is also essential. It is regarded suitable for flying here because the paragliding, which has been flown by competent pilots for the previous seven years, provides a spectacular view of the hills and river.

On the Narayangadh-Muglin road section, Chaukidanda can be reached by walking nine kilometers north of Bhorle and five kilometers north of Jugedi.
