KATHMANDU: Mr. Prabin Raj Pokharel has been formally appointed as the CEO of Nepal Digital Payments Company Limited by the Board of Directors, with effect from the 17th of Baishakh (April 30).

“After a thorough comprehensive research and a rigorous selection and recruitment process, the board is pleased to have found the best individual to assume leadership of the organization,” said Krishna Prasad Bhandari, previous CEO of Nepal Digital Payments Company Limited.

Mr. Pokharel highlighted, “My focus would be on working with the team to deliver a step-up in the business performance, as we serve creating a cashless society, by providing modern services not only to the banked and digitally educated people but also to the unbanked masses to bring about true financial inclusion.”

Mr. Pokharel is a proven leader with over 27 years of experience in multiple leading banks, financial institutions, payment systems, and fintech companies, where he has delivered significant portfolio and organizational change as part of transforming a more focused, growth-driven, and sustainable business.

Mr. Pokharel was previously the CEO of F1 Soft International and MNepal Ltd. He has extensive banking expertise, having held senior and intermediate management positions with Global Bank, Nabil Bank, Bank of Kathmandu, and Himalayan Bank. He served as a Mobile Financial Services and Payment Systems Advisor for a UKaid-funded project in Nepal, where he accomplished significant milestones in digital payment.
