PIA operating night flights from today

POKHARA: Pokhara International Airport (PIA) is now accepting night flights. Aircrafts in Pokhara, which used to fly only from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., can now fly at any time.

Airport chief Bikram Gautam informed that 18-hour flights have now been arranged by increasing service, and that if necessary, the service can be extended to twenty-four hours.

The aircraft will now fly from morning 6 to midnight 12. He stated that the airport has installed all of the necessary equipment and is ready for the flight, but that the airline companies have yet to provide a schedule.

Pokhara Airport now has the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) system required for night flights. Previously, only visual flight rules (VFR) were used for flying and landing. The pilot must land the flight visually in VFR, whereas the flight will be based on the system in IFR.

Buddha Air has prepared night flights to Pokhara with the installation of the new system. Buddha stated that the plane will begin flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara on March 9 at 8 p.m.
