Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank provides relief materials to Mahottari fire victims

KATHMANDU: Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank distributed relief materials to approximately 545 individuals from 150 households who were displaced due to the recent fire outbreak in Ward No. 6 of Matihani Municipality, Mahottari, on Wednesday.

With the aim of providing relief assistance, the bank distributed food items and hygiene products worth Rs 2,50,000.

The distributed items include 750 kg of wheat flour, 750 kg of rice, 75 kg of lentils, 75 liters of oil, 150 packets of salt, 450 bars of soap, and 150 cartons of noodles.

The devastating fire that occurred in Ward No. 6 of Matihani Municipality, Mahottari, on Wednesday, has resulted in complete destruction of over 100 houses and partial damage to around 50 other houses, with an estimated financial loss exceeding Rs 15 crores.

On the April 27, Mayor Shri Hari Prasad Mandal of Matihani Municipality and Sudip Chand Pokharel, Chief of the Bank’s Madhesh Regional Office, facilitated the transfer of relief materials to the affected families in Janakpur Branch with the participation of bank employees.

The assistance provided by the bank has instilled confidence in the affected families that they will receive support even in such challenging circumstances, fulfilling their basic needs to some extent.
