KATHMANDU: Pokhara is Nepal’s main tourist destination. The city of first choice for both domestic and international tourists.

Tourists can visit Phewa Lake and Begnas Lake, Seti Gorge, and Davi’s Falls (Patale Chhango) on the outskirts of the city. Whether it is boating, paragliding or Seti gorge, none of them are 100% safe.

The Armed Police Force has been deploying trained rescue teams to minimize damage in the event of a boat sinking or people falling into Seti’s gorge.

There is one such person on the same team whose bravery goes unnoticed. He is an Armed Police Assistant Constable working at No. 24 Gan in Pokhara.

Poudel, who has focused his professional responsibilities on rescue since Poush 2069, has been in or near Pokhara, no matter how many disasters have happened before, there are no any places where he has not been. His skill and bravery astound everyone. High-ranking officials have made him their first choice.

During the rescue, he has also given some people new lives. After risking his life, the dead body of a man who drowned in Phewa Lake was extracted. He has also done similar work in Seti gorge and Davis Fall.

In the most recent incident, a Yeti Air plane crashed in Seti’s gorge, killing 68 passengers and four crew members, and armed forces are still searching for survivors.
