KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives is holding its first meeting of the new term today. According to President Bidya Devi Bhandari, the House of Representatives will meet today at 1 p.m. The newly elected members of the House of Representatives are about to meet for the first time.

At the beginning of today’s meeting, senior member Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana will read the details of the President’s letter about the session’s convening.

Following that, there is a possible agenda that will be read and the details of the letters received from the President’s office regarding the appointment to the post of Prime Minister and the formation of the Council of Ministers will be read out.

Senior members will nominate MPs to chair the meeting in the absence of the Speaker. The top leaders will deliver a party-specific speech at the start of the session.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, some condolence proposals may also be presented on the agenda.

Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana, a senior member, will preside over the meeting until a new speaker is elected.

There is an agenda for the top leaders of the parties represented in Parliament to address the meeting today. 12 parties are represented in the parliament.

President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairperson of CPN UML KP Sharma Oli, Chairperson of CPN Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairperson of RSP Rabi Lamichhane, Chairperson of RPP Rajendra Lingden, Chairperson of CPN Unified Socialists Madhav Kumar Nepal, Leader of JSP Parliamentary Party Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Chairperson of Janamat Party CK Raut, Chairperson of Nagarik Unmukti Party Ranjita Shrestha and others will address the program.

Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to take a vote of confidence on Jan 10. JB Rana, a senior member, will inform the MP about this today. The House of Representatives has a total of 275 members.
