Sandeep’s Case: Copy of birth certificate submitted as proof that victim was not a minor in his case

KATHMANDU: Lawyers for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is being held in police custody in connection with a rape case, have submitted evidence to the court proving that the victim is not a minor.

Sandeep’s lawyers presented evidence that the victim was not a minor during the two-day detention hearing at Kathmandu’s District Court on Wednesday.

Following the completion of both the alleged victim’s and accused Sandeep’s statements in court, the evidence was submitted.

The case is being debated by lawyers from both sides.

On behalf of Sandeep, the lawyers participating in the detention hearing submitted a copy of the birth certificate to the judge as proof that the victim is not a minor.

The girl, known as the victim, was born on 2061 Ashar 18 (2 July ,2004) according to the certificate submitted to the court.

According to this, the victim is 18 years and 3 months old.
