‘Heavyweight’ competition in Syangja 2, powerful leaders of two parties face off

POKHARA: The competition in Syangja 2 will be interesting among the Gandaki constituencies.

Secretary Padma Aryal has received a ticket from the UML, while Congress Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung has received a ticket from the alliance.

Padma has become extremely powerful within the UML after defeating former Congress vice-president and former minister Gopalman Shrestha in 2074. She is currently the governor of Gandaki State.

She served as a minister for the majority of UML’s tenure. Dhanraj, who did not receive a ticket in the party in 2074, was elected vice president at the previous convention.

The rivalry between these two leaders is being closely followed.
