PM calls for national solidarity in addressing people’s suffering
Prime Minister Oli urged the public to unite in addressing the pain experienced by the people and to actively participate in search, rescue, relief, and assistance efforts.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on everyone to assist in addressing the suffering caused by floods, landslides, and inundation, recognizing it as a national tragedy.
In a press conference held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Oli urged the public to unite in addressing the pain experienced by the people and to actively participate in search, rescue, relief, and assistance efforts.
“This pain is not just the government’s concern but a matter of sorrow for the entire society. We are all deeply affected by these disasters,” said Prime Minister Oli. “Some of the damages have been caused by structural flaws. In the future, disaster-resilient structures will be built, with a long-term focus on making them stronger.”
The Prime Minister acknowledged that the scale of the disaster had exceeded the government’s preparedness, which may have led to shortcomings in rescue and search operations.
However, he committed to rectifying such issues moving forward.
He also emphasized the need to fully utilize the available resources and means from both the state and society.
