KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has issued 60-point instructions to political parties and candidates.

The Commission has issued 60 points of instruction to political parties and candidates to ensure the effective implementation of election laws and codes of conduct.

Instructions have been provided regarding the dos and don’ts of parties and candidates. The directive states in point 49 that anyone who wishes to run for office must resign from their current position.

Similarly, while spending on the election, the candidate must open a bank account.

Political parties registered for election purposes are required to implement and comply with the legal provisions contained in the Election (Offenses and Punishment) Act 2073 and the Election Code of Conduct, 2079 in order to make the State and House of Representatives elections on Nov 20 clean, free, fair, transparent, and fear-free.

The meeting on Tuesday decided to issue instructions in accordance with Section 57 of the Party Act of 2073.
