Deputy Chief of Lahan released on bail in attempted rape case

JANAKPURDHAM: Ramchalitar Mahato, the deputy mayor of Siraha’s Lahan Municipality, was released from jail after serving 17 days for attempted rape.

The Siraha district court today ordered Deputy Mayor Mahato’s release on one lakh rupee bail.

According to Siraha police, he was released after posting bail following the order.

A woman filed a complaint against Deputy Mayor Mahato at the Lahan police station, alleging that he attempted to rape her on July 20 in exchange for a job. Following that, on Sept 9, the fugitive deputy mayor Mahato surrendered to police.
