KMC Mayor Shah expressed his displeasure with High Court of Patan’s order regarding Tukucha excavation

KATHMANDU: Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has expressed his displeasure with the High Court of Patan’s decision on Tukucha excavation.

The High Court on Wednesday postponed the city’s plan to demolish structures built on the Tukucha River until Oct 12.

Furthermore, he asked how Nepal could be proven to be a Nepal country if the court couldn’t call Tukucha a river.

“Again, the court has issued a short-term interim order on the river,” he said on social media. If the court cannot define the Tukucha (Ichchumati) River as a river, how can Nepal be established as a country?’

Since the Metropolitan Municipality began excavating Tukucha, there has been much debate, and the case has gone to court.
