KATHMANDU: By late night, all political parties had submitted their closed list of candidates for the proportional election by the deadline set by the Election Commission.

According to the Election Commission’s information, parties were submitting their lists even late at night. It has been registered with the Commission.

The official list has not yet been released by the parties. Parties must prepare a list in accordance with the provisions of the proportional election guidelines.

The names of candidates should be suggested based on the population of Dalits, Tribals, Khas-Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, and Muslims.

A list of 110 people must be submitted to the House of Representatives, and a maximum of 220 people must be submitted to the State Assembly. According to the parties, there was a delay in preparing the list of 330 people.

However, the major parties have submitted a closed list on the proportional side in accordance with the Commission’s inclusion criteria. The parties’ leaders range from the Prime Minister’s wife to a former speaker, a former home minister’s wife, and a former ambassador.

Although the parties have not formally published the list, they have included people who have held positions in national politics from various ‘quotas’ in the proportional list.

The accessible ones have been placed in the proportional list by the CPN-UML, Congress, and Maoist Center. People like Vice Chairperson Ram Bahadur Thapa’s wife Nainkala Thapa, Raghuji Panta, Gorakh Bahadur Bogati, and others have joined UML.

In the proportional system, Congress has given priority to the most accessible. Arzu Rana Deuba, the wife of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakasharan Mahat, Farmulha Mansur, Gopalman Shrestha, and others who have achieved positions and leadership have been given positions.

Similarly, the Maoist center has included in the list of equals leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who has benefited numerous times. He was arrested for sexual violence while serving as Speaker. The major parties advocate proportionality in violation of the constitution.
