17 people involved in drug bust arrested

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended eight people in possession of the illegal drug brown heroin.

The Bureau held a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday and announced that three people had been arrested with 40.5 grams of brown heroin and five people had been arrested with 247 grams of brown heroin.

Pratap Karki of Lalitpur Bhaisepati, Bhuwan BK of Phidim, and Denghang Nemwang of the same location have all been arrested.

Similarly, Utsav Ghimire and Dorchi Sherpa from Makalbari in Kathmandu were arrested with the drug brown heroin, and Furlami Sherpa from Sukedhara was arrested during further investigation, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Bikash Raj Khanal of the Bureau.

Apsara Rajbanshi of Jhapa, who sold them drugs, and Nausadar Alam, who supplied her, were also apprehended in Mechinagar, Jhapa, along with digital scales and cash worth Rs.1 million and 40,000, according to Khanal.

Similarly, the Bureau arrested four people in different locations with 252 ampoules of illegal drugs, he said.

According to the bureau, three people were apprehended along with two kilograms of ganja from various locations in Kathmandu.
