Nomination of brothers in Nepalgunj & Kohalpur

KATHMANDU: APRIL. 27 – In Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality and Kohalpur Municipality, two brothers from the same family have filed nominations.

Both brothers have registered their candidature from different parties in Sub-Metropolitan-1. Binod Rijal of the Nepali Congress and Pramod Rijal of the CPN (UML) have both been nominated for the position of ward chairperson. Binod began student politics in 2046 BS after being nominated by the Nepali Congress. He is currently Tarun Dal Banke’s secretary.

Binod’s rival, his own brother Pramod, was also the previous term’s ward chairperson. He was also the spokesperson of the sub-metropolitian. Before becoming the ward chairperson, Pramod was also a lawyer.

Similarly, there will be competition between two brothers in Kohalpur Municipality. Brother Madhav Rijal and brother Tarkeshwar Rijal will compete in Ward No. 3 of the municipality. In 2074 BS, brother Madhav was elected ward chairperson, while his brother Tarkeshwar was defeated by 65 votes. Madhav is running for Ward Chairperson from the UML, while Tarkeshwar is running from the CPN (Maoist Center).

There are 2,329 candidates for 421 posts in the district’s eight local levels.
