KATHMANDU: JAN. 4 – The registration procedure for suspended MP Resham Chaudhary’s party, ‘Nagarik Unmukti Party,’ has begun. After submitting an application for registration to the Election Commission on Monday, the party has reached the registration stage today.

The party has its election symbol of ‘Dhaki’. The party has a central committee of 21 members, headed by Resham Chaudhary’s wife, Ranjita Shrestha. Other office bearers are yet to be appointed.

On Monday, Chaudhary-backed officials, who are serving prison sentences after being convicted in the Tikapur incident in Kailali, went to the commission with traditional music instruments seeking party registration. The Commission will issue a certificate of party registration within 45 days of the application.
