KATHMANDU: NOV. 30 – Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani has decided to support Rajendra Lingden at the party’s upcoming general convention. In a written statement presented at a program organized in Kathmandu, Chairman Dr. Lohani said that the leadership of the party should go to the new generation and said that he was in favor of Lingden.

Lohani said he was in favor of selecting the leadership by consensus but did not see it as possible. He also requested the chairperson’s Kamal Thapa and Pashupati Shamsher Rana to play the role of guardians and give a chance to the new leadership to work.

The general convention of RPP is starting from Dec. 1. Earlier in the day, Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden had announced their candidacies for the post. Earlier, Lingden, who was on Thapa’s side, had said that he would now take RPP to the leadership in a new way. Chairperson Thapa has announced his candidature saying that he will not allow any split in the party.
