KATHMANDU: SEPT. 7 – Today is Father’s Day. On this occasion, the children traditionally show respect to their father by feeding him sweets and food.

Those who do not have a father go to various holy places and pay obeisances in the name of their father. A special fair is held at the Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple premises in the northeastern part of Kathmandu, known as Uttargaya.

The temple management committee has informed that the temple area will be closed last Saturday, but the temple is open for two days yesterday and today. According to Ward Chairman and Chairman of the Management Committee, Mr Kumar Shrestha, the pilgrims could not be stopped since 3 in the morning due to increasing pressure.

As there is a fair here, today’s Aunsi is also known as Gokarne Aunsi. No special program has been organized in the temple area as there is still a risk of infection with the new variant coronavirus.
