HUMLA: MAY 26 – Bees have started dying in their hives due to an unknown disease in Jabuka village of Simkot Village Municipality-7 of Humla district. Farmers who have been doing beekeeping business for a long time have started dying in their hives due to unknown diseases.

According to Bir Bahadur Singh, bees have died of unknown diseases in five of the 20 hives of Goite Singh of Ward No. 7, which has been beekeeping commercially. He said that the concern increased after the bees started dying inside the hive due to an unknown disease. Singh, who is a beekeeper, said that he earns good income by selling honey and beehives.

He said that the business has become fourfold after the bees started dying suddenly. It is unknown at this time what caused the bees to die. The price of honey in the district ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200. -RSS
