KATHMANDU: TUESDAY, MAY 18, 2021 – A powerful cyclone named ‘Tauktae’ developed in the Arabian Sea has affected Nepal for five days. As the western low pressure system has developed and the pre-monsoon has become more active, a double seasonal effect has started in Nepal from Monday.

Cyclone Tauktae, which is still active in the Arabian Sea, is expected to make landfall in the area, according to the Meteorological Department. Although the cyclone did not have a direct effect, the indirect effect is more visible as it passes through India.

Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said, “The cyclone will have a mild effect on Nepal from Monday to next Friday. The weather will continue to improve from Saturday.” Accordingly, most of the sky in Nepal has been cloudy since mid-Monday. According to her, the impact of this cyclone in India has been severe for the past few days. However, she said that there is a possibility of slower and lesser impact as that effect will be weakened when it reaches Nepal.

According to the department, the effect of the cyclone, which will remain normal till Tuesday, will be a little more from Wednesday to Friday. The department has pointed out the possibility of complete cloud cover and light to moderate rain in different parts of the country from Wednesday. – From Gorkhapatra daily
