Nepal’s situation is worrisome: WHO

KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, MAY 16, 2021 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the condition of Nepal is becoming critical due to Corona infection.

At a press conference held in Geneva, the director general of the organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom said that the situation of Corona infection in some countries including Nepal has reached alarming level.

“Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Egypt are facing increasing infections,” he said. “These countries are in urgent need of emergency assistance,” he said.

He said that the number of patients who need to be hospitalized in Nepal is increasing and there is no access to beds and oxygen for them, adding that this will lead to more complications. Corona Virus infection is on the rise in countries including Nepal that need international assistance and the supply of vaccines in these countries is one of the biggest problems. Tedros says.

Stating that the second wave of Corona was more dangerous and serious than the previous one, he expressed concern over the recent situation in India and said that the situation in India and neighboring countries was also worrying.
