In Baisakh alone, 1608 people died from Covid-19 and 1.5 million were infected

KATHMANDU: SATURDAY, MAY 15, 2021 – In Baisakh alone, more than 1.5 million people have been infected with the Corona Virus in Nepal. As of Baisakh 1, the number of Corona infected was three lakh seven thousand 925. That number has increased to four lakh 39 thousand 658 on Friday. One lakh 58 thousand 71 Corona infections have been added in a period of one month alone.

Of the 603 people infected with Corona on the same day, the number of infected people has reached eight thousand 520 on Friday. At the same time, the number of people infected with Corona Virus in Nepal has reached four lakh 39 thousand 658. According to Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, 20,948 people were tested for PCR and 530 for antigen testing in the last 24 hours. The number of people undergoing PCR test was 2.236 million as of Baisakh 1, but the number has increased to 2.733 million on Friday. In Baisakh alone, four lakh 96 thousand 984 PCR tests have been done.

The number of people recovering from Corona in Baisakh is 49,047. The number of people who have been recovered from the Corona Virus has reached 327,653. The number was two lakh 78 thousand 506 on Baisakh 1. In the last 24 hours, 6,135 infected people have recovered and returned home. The number of active infections has skyrocketed across the country. According to the Ministry, the number of active infected people has increased from four thousand 56 to one lakh seven thousand 336 on Baisakh 1.

At present, 1,705 infected people are being treated in ICUs and ventilators across the country, according to the ministry. One thousand 334 infected people are being treated in ICU and 371 infected people are being treated in ventilator. The highest number of 542 infected ICUs and 220 infected ventilators are in Bagmati. In Kathmandu Valley alone, 185 infected people are being treated in ICU and 105 infected people are being treated in ventilator.

One thousand 608 people lost their lives
In Baishakh alone, 1,608 people have lost their lives from Corona. Of the 3,061 deaths from Corona as of Baisakh 1, the number has risen to 4,669 on Friday. In the last 24 hours, 203 people have lost their lives due to Corona Virus infection in Nepal, according to the ministry. Three infected people had died on Baisakh 1. Eighteen people were killed on the same day.
