Decomposed elephant found in Jhapa
Notably, the tusk of the elephant had been removed.

KATHMANDU: A decomposed adult male elephant has been found in a severely decayed state in the Pathibhara Community Forest, located in Kachankawal-7 of Jhapa district.
The elephant, believed to have died about a month and a half ago, was discovered emitting a strong odor due to its decomposition.
On Thursday, a team from the Division Forest Office and the Baniyani Police Station reached the site of the incident.
Upon investigation, Division Forest Office official, Jeevan Pathak, confirmed that the elephant’s body had largely decomposed, with most of it in a state of decay.
The elephant’s body was buried in a pit at the site.
Notably, the tusk of the elephant had been removed.
In the previous fiscal year, four elephants were reported dead in Jhapa.
